Mission Accomplished: Vancouver Networking for Health and Food Bloggers
(HealthCastle.com) With a full house attendance at The Network Hub, our recent HealthCastle Vancouver networking event was a blast! The topic of discussion was "Take Your Website To The Next Level: Photography Techniques and Marketing". Our three panelists presented very informative and engaging presentations.
Ethan Adeland, blogger of Taste Better With Friends and co-founder of Food Bloggers of Canada, started off by sharing his everyday photographs he took with his camera (mostly iPhone), and his journey in story-telling and how he engaged with readers and friends. He also shared a few iPhone apps he used to enhance his photos.
Veronica Patenaude, founder of LowFatVeganChef.com, gave us a crash course on food photography! She gave us the low-down on lighting, subject matter, props, photo composition, and depth of field.
Ian Lee, Director of Marketing of HealthCastle.com, shared how he used photographs to attract new readers and website traffic, particularly from Facebook, Pinterest, and StumbleUpon. He also shared a few pointers on taking a food photo using a point-and-shoot camera.
Of course, thanks to our sponsors:
Also, I'd like to thank our volunteers, Melissa Baker and Ivy Cheng!
I'm excited that we all came together, to learn and grow. Feedback from attendees were very encouraging and we look forward to hosting more events like this one in the future. Here are some photos from the event.
Photos acknowledgement: Ivy Cheng & Ian Lee. Check out more event photos in Ivy Cheng's album. Don't forget to tag yourself!

With proper settings, point & shoot cameras can snap good food photos. Check out Ian's full powerpoint presentation on Using Gorgeous Food Photos to Increase Your Online Reach.
