Vegan Resources for Vancouverites
(HealthCastle.com) Vancouver has a growing vegan food scene, but it can be a bit tricky to stay informed about all the new businesses opening across the city. Fortunately, there are some great resources and groups that both foster a spirit of cooperation among the various vegan establishments and make it easier for consumers to find vegan businesses in all areas of Metro Vancouver. If you're interested in eating vegan food, here are some great places to start!
Vegan Business Listings for Vancouver
The Vegan Business Association
The Georgia Strait reported that the Vancouver Vegan Business Association had its first meeting in April to try to create a sense of healthy competition and cooperation in the vegan business market, and to explore opportunities such as cross-promotion, joint purchasing, kitchen sharing, and vegan markets. The association membership includes shops and non-profits as well as restaurants. The restaurant/food members include Fairy Cakes (in East Vancouver), Gorilla Food (downtown), Chomp Vegan Eatery (Port Moody), Karmavore (New Westminster), and Eternal Abundance (Commercial Drive).
Earthsave Canada Metro Vancouver Veg Directory
This directory of vegetarian and vegan businesses in available in print form at many local business and shops. It's also available as a free app for iPhone and Android devices, or online. The directory includes vegetarian and vegetarian-friendly establishments as well as vegan ones, but you can filter for vegan options. Check out the lists of vegan restaurants and even vegan food trucks!
The Vancouver Vegan blog offers a list of 100% vegan businesses in Metro Vancouver and a Metro Vancouver Vegan Business Directory. The latter includes businesses that are vegan-friendly as well as those that are 100% vegan (they have clearly labeled vegan options and understand what vegans eat).
HappyCow lists vegan and vegetarian business for cities all around the world. You can search by city or by your specific area code, and you can read reviews from others who have visited the establishments listed. Their Vancouver vegan restaurant list includes 15 options.
